Spiritual Practitioner
Hello!
I’m Rick Baldwin
For over fifty years, I’ve been a licensed and ordained spiritual practitioner, delving into the profound depths of spirituality. My journey has been one of challenges, unexpected outcomes, and transformative revelations. My goal is to guide others on their spiritual paths, offering advice, clarity, hope, and light along the way.
Born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee, I grew up in a conservative, Southern Baptist, Christian environment. From a young age, I felt called to ministry, believing I would one day become a pastor. However, during college, my interests shifted toward the arts, leading me to study acting, directing, scenic art, and stand-up comedy.
My early spiritual exploration was deeply influenced by the writings of Christian mystics such as the Desert Fathers, Thomas Merton, and Meister Eckhart. Other pivotal figures included Anthony de Mello, Eknath Easwaran, Thich Nhat Hanh, Emmet Fox, and Charles and Myrtle Fillmore. Joel S. Goldsmith’s The Infinite Way became one of my most transformative influences.
In the early 2000s, Eckhart Tolle’s teachings deepened my practice and led to a breakthrough in meditation. Meditation became central to my spiritual journey, illuminating the nature of self, mind, and existence. Over time, I discovered that spirituality is not about attaining something new but recognizing that which has always been right here.
Decades later, during a profound meditation, my concept of God dissolved completely. This unexpected experience brought an extended period of inner peace and clarity, even as I abandoned all formal spiritual practice. Then, what began as a secular exploration of meditation, eventually reignited my spiritual path, fueled by Rupert Spira’s teachings and a renewed connection to Tolle’s work.
These practices deepened my understanding, culminating in a profound experience of the separation between mind and self. Ultimately, I came to see that my spiritual search had always been pointing to a truth I had never left—the recognition of the oneness and wholeness already present.
My Approach
Spirituality is deeply personal and unique to each individual. While we all journey toward the same truth, the paths we take are as diverse as we are. My role is not that of a lofty guru but a guide—a helper to illuminate the road ahead and point you in the right direction.
I work to meet you where you are, understand your path, and support your growth. Our relationship is non-binding and free of expectations. My commitment is to your healing, awakening, and empowerment, approached with presence, compassion, and a touch of humor.
Flexible and Accessible Support
As a full-time artist, my flexible schedule allows me to offer consultations, guided meditations, and group workshops. I’m available for in-person sessions in Atlanta or through email and video conferencing. For one-on-one sessions, I charge a standard hourly fee, but I strive to accommodate those facing temporary financial difficulties by offering alternative arrangements, such as donations or trades. If you require assistance in this area, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
I am not affiliated with any religion, church, organization or group, nor do I find spiritual labels necessary. My background includes Protestant Christianity, Eastern and Western spirituality, metaphysics, mysticism, and non-duality. I welcome and affirm individuals of all backgrounds, identities, and beliefs. The only prerequisite is a willingness to approach our work with an open mind and a spirit of self-reflection.
Discovering Your True Self
The essence of spirituality lies in discovering who you truly are and allowing life to unfold from that awareness. Meditation is the most direct method to initiate this journey. Whether through guided meditations or silent presence, my goal is to help you recognize the ever-present awareness that is your true self. Once you experience this, you will no longer need a teacher.
